Hear me out.

I thought "we" as supposed "leftists" would be on the side of the oppressed as opposed to the oppressee, and now I come back to my BELOVED site, and I see 80% of the posters here defend a dictator like Putin.
What is wrong with you?
I had enough with this pollution. I am, and will be, always against anti-human shit, and you can suck my cock if you support unethical Russia in this conflict.
If this is what "leftism" means to you than I disown "leftism," and will ascribe to "liberalism" from now on, exactly because that ideology at least respects human rights and self-determination, as opposed to you, self-proclaimed "leftists."

After fierce fighting, the city of Vasilkov in the Kiev region remained under Ukrainian control.
Mayor Vasilkov Natalya Balasinovich announced this on the air of the Rada TV channel on Saturday morning.
“Now the fighting is ending. We can say that it is already quiet in Vasilkovo and that a very terrible night has come to an end. After long battles, after many wounded and dead, fortunately, it’s all over. Nobody gave Vasilkov to anyone, ”- she declared.
Balasinovich said that since Friday evening, rocket attacks on Ukrainian military units and the shelling of the airfield in Vasilkov began, and throughout the evening and night near Vasilkov, enemy parachute troops landed in the fields and forests. Residents informed the city authorities and the military about this.
"The most terrible thing was on our central Decembrists Street, it was fierce fighting, the whole street was on fire," the mayor says.
According to her, the territorial defense, together with the military of the 40th brigade, held the city. A large amount of equipment was promptly sent from Kyiv to help Vasilkov.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also claims that an Il-76 with a large landing force was shot down there (later on Svidomo forums this number quickly grew to 4).
All in all, an epic battle! This news was spread all over the world, in all major media such as CNN. With all the details.
The only problem is that in real life there was not a single Russian soldier AT ALL, either on the ground or in the air. No landing attempts, no reconnaissance groups, no attacking columns - just NOTHING. Our attack plane flew by at most and dropped a bomb on the local airfield.
For the whole night, the Ukrainian Armed Forces of Ukraine, the police and the militias exclusively wet each other, shot trucks and police cars, and so on.
Having received a bunch of corpses and wounded in the morning. And in the end, he did not show a single fragment of the aircraft, or at least even a rag taken from the saboteur. At least a chevronchik of the Airborne Forces!
Not to mention the downed IL-76 (this is a huge plane, if anyone does not know). That does not prevent them from celebrating victory in all publics and even here in LiveJournal until now.
Some will ask - how is this even possible?
And everything was very simple and banal, as the simplest reconstruction of events from their own news feeds says.
1) On the eve of the afternoon, drunken AFU officers began to drive around Kiev in the Urals and Strela (such an anti-aircraft gun), frightening drivers and hardly fitting into turns, while other AFU officers mistook them for an invading Russian column and began to fire at them from machine guns.
Those in a panic began to tick and even shoot back, thinking that these were also invading Russians.
All this is well documented in numerous videos and photos.
As a result, they were successfully killed, but they did not admit that they were their own, but decided to lie as usual and pass them off as Russian saboteurs, who allegedly changed into Ukrainian uniforms and even got Ukrainian documents. So this idiotic fake was launched through all official channels.
And they themselves believed in it! Although I don’t understand what you need to have in your head instead of brains in order to believe that real saboteurs would do this. In any case, a mass psychosis about saboteurs arose in Ukrainian social networks and heads.
2) Earlier in the day, a real Russian landing from helicopters was landed at the Gostomel airfield (right there near Kiev), and everyone saw this and was terribly frightened. So everyone everywhere expected landings and saboteurs.
3) At night, Ukrainian air defenses opened fire from anti-aircraft guns at a flying Russian fighter (probably, or maybe they imagined something).
And here we must understand that the explosions of anti-aircraft shells leave such characteristic white clouds that Ukrainian villagers take for parachutes.
So, at night, the inhabitants of Vasilkov saw "parachutes" in the sky and began to call in all instances, something like "guard, shout!"
The police (with a flashing light!) went to the checkpoint of the military unit there, apparently, to check if everything was in order.
And then someone mistook someone for saboteurs and began to play dirty tricks.
So the news first came out:
The Ukrainian checkpoint near Vasilkov was shot on Saturday night by saboteurs dressed in the uniform of the National Police, the battle for the military airfield continues, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reports.
"Russian saboteurs, dressed in the uniform of the National Police, shot our fighters at the checkpoint near Vasilkovo," the Verkhovna Rada's Telegram channel said.
It is also emphasized that immediately after that, a Russian military group entered on a truck.
"There is a heavy battle going on," the report said.
That is, someone called for help from the Armed Forces of Ukraine on trucks, they also began to shoot them on Decembrists Street and, in general, a serious battle broke out.
Trucks, cars are on fire, shooting in all directions, cinema and the Germans. Tons of wounded and dead. By morning, of course, they figured out what they had done again.
And then they had to come up with some kind of mythical landing on the Il-76 and it was either shot down in the air, or destroyed on the ground - they lied this way and that. Particularly talented people broadcast that part of the Russian landing force survived the fall in the wreckage of the aircraft, and then they were finished off.
But what other troops, what saboteurs or convoys on trucks (!) 40 kilometers from Gostomel (this is the farthest point of advance)?
Again, after all, it’s an absolutely stupid fake - and, which is typical, the Svidomo who believed in this nonsense still do not get tired of marveling at the stupidity of Putin’s generals, who sent troops to certain death. They are joking - it would be better if they immediately threw off parachutes. But who's really stupid here?
Look at what it all resulted in. They cannot honestly admit that they screwed up, and now tirelessly spread this nonsense about their victories and some disguised saboteurs throughout Ukraine and continuously catch and piss each other in all cities and villages. Trans-Ukrainian militias, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the police and the SBU filled the whole cart with captured and shot saboteurs.

also go here
https://tv.leftypol.org/r/HappeningsviaKlash I've seen libs saying Putin is mentally unwell due to what's going on, but i feel like his military strategy is pretty basic to follow and pretty strategically sound?
Like if you're in a scenario where your enemy is butting up against your borders and being aggressive, eventually you have to respond to get them to stop, or they will encroach and sorround you. They're already doing this. Pushing back a single time isn't going to get those other countries to join against your enemy faster, it's going to make think about if they really should join.
Especially because Ukraine was propped up by NATO for the last few years (decades?) and now the only support they are offering to the panicking leader is sanctions and gun shipments and offering troop training at the border. No troops on the ground, no tanks or air support. Effectively nothing more than what a moderately weak ally would provide you, when it's clear they don't actually want to get into the war with you.
Russia is making the point that they're stronger than NATO, and that NATO doesn't actually care about the people in those countries or anything more than creating a military blockade against the East. Russia is likely going to succeed at taking the border provinces, has already succeeded at wiping out a lot of military bases in Ukraine, and so far the only consequence to them has been some financial sanctions that mostly just hurt citizens. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is still happy to pay them for their oil and is too afraid to get into a hot war with them. There will effectively be very little consequences for them, and they will have gained territory and weakened NATO in just a few weeks of combat. Seems like pretty good military strategy to me.
I think the people that think Russia has a bad strategy think that NATO is gonna swoop in or something but even then, It's fucking Russia. It's the 5th largest military in the world in walking distance of the country they're invading and they've already taken the parts they want. NATO deploying troops would be illegal, a nightmare for international public relations for everyone, and an uphill battle for them, and would open those other nations up to Russian attack (who have fucking nukes).
I'm really failing to see how it's some crackpot strategy like the libs are claiming. Seems pretty basic to follow to me.

>>539769Idk how Micheal Roberts defines "imperialism," but he makes it clear that Russia definitely intends to exploit Ukraine's resources.
<If Putin can gain control of Ukraine, that opens up significant riches to be exploited. Ukraine is rich in natural resources, particularly in mineral deposits. It possesses the world’s largest reserves of commercial-grade iron ore—30 billion tonnes of ore or around one-fifth of the global total. Ukraine ranks second in terms of known natural gas reserves in Europe, which today remain largely untapped. Ukraine’s mostly flat geography and high-quality soil composition make the country a big regional agricultural player. The country is the world’s fifth-largest exporter of wheat and the world’s largest exporter of seed oils like sunflower and rapeseed. Coal mining, chemicals, mechanical products (aircraft, turbines, locomotives and tractors) and shipbuilding are also important sectors of the Ukrainian economy.<All of this remains to be fully exploited. The EU and the US have also been drooling over the prospect of getting hold of these resources. As I showed in my last post, the Ukraine government plans to sell off huge tracts of land to foreign and domestic investors to develop. That could deliver huge dividends to whichever power controls the country. If your definition of "imperialism" is so narrow that it doesn't include invading your neighbour and stealing their resources then it's pretty useless.
>>539791Honestly I dont give a fuck if Russia is imperialist because it is the minor imperialist, objectively. Russia hasn't fucked over and continues to fuck over the great majority of the periphery. NATO does. So he can fuck off with his bullshit about "muh imperialism" "both bad" because its fucking bullshit. A slap and a bullet to the face are both bad, fucking genius statement.

No, a nuclear war would destroy so much infrastructure that the survivors, lets say half of humanity 3.5 billion, will restart burning wood and coal for heat and cooking that they might accelerate climate change, by burning off too many forests. Nuclear weapons are also very imprecise, it is very easy to kick so much particles into orbit that it cause an ice age that freezes 2/3rd of the planet.
There are cheaper, better and nondestructive methods to do geo-engineering.
>>539812I also hold the same perspective. Stage 1 and Stage 4 cancer are both cancer, but one is more operable than the other.
Still, it is important to recognize this to avoid treating the current state of affairs as this static mechanical thing. Multipolarity allows for the bourgeoisie to be more divided and weaker, which is beneficial for the proletariat, but this state of affairs is in itself transient and can switch to another imperial replacing the old one. Russia’s subimperialism has significant implications for the future if Russia becomes one of the multiple poles.
