Fired for not showing up to work. Simple. No strike fund, or solidarity. Simple. The individual must bare the cost of the movement. Simple. No we won't support you, and asking for it would be petit bourgeoise of you. We will continue to wonder why this politics of individual sacrifice make for poor praxis, and as we do, our most dedicated people will suffer out of principle. Unsustainable in all forms.

There are things outside the bourgeois political spectrum. that are both to the "left" and "right" of it. "Above" is just an idealistic term you are using/

>>2671737
>the US has a left because the left means the left wing of capital
rhetorical trick like >>2671749 and I both said
>the US has no left because there is no real movement/no proletariat
partly true because of deindustrialization/outsourcing. partly false because we do have a lot of immiserated wage workers. the fact that they work in "service industries" rather than "commodity production" does not matter because no economy can survive forever purely on service industries and finance. the US will reindustrialize and many people will become classical industrial proletariat again eventually. Also we have prisoners who produce commodities and undocumented migrants who do field work.
>The US has a left it's just mauled into ineffectiveness
Also true, from Taft Hartley onward. Accelerated by neoliberalism, the repeat of glass steagall, NAFTA, patriot act, etc.

Liberalism corresponded to a different mode of production than feudal absolutism, but in the context of the original bourgeois political spectrum of 189 that puts them to the "left" of feudal absolutism, not "above" it. People say this but it's doubtful. Having voter rolls doesn't do anything besides ramp up his already dwindling base. And he will never be able to actually post armed guards at every voting booth. His only hope is martial law and if Republicans said their "red line" for impeachment was him breaking NATO, that will likely be a red line for them too because there is only so much of the imperial boomerang they will allow until it destroys their own comfort.

>Liberalism corresponded to a different mode of production than feudal absolutism, but in the context of the original bourgeois political spectrum of 189 that puts them to the "left" of feudal absolutism, not "above" it

I disagree. Liberalism was not to the “left” of feudalism. It existed along side it for a while, but it was always the ideology of the new emerging revolutionary mode of production. It interacted with feudalism, but wasn’t apart of it truly. Feudalism had its own versions of the left, which did not include liberalism.

>>2671814

that's literally what the term originally meant historically
> It existed along side it for a while
every new mode of production is born that way:

<What we have to deal with here is a communist society, not as it has developed on its own foundations, but, on the contrary, just as it emerges from capitalist society; which is thus in every respect, economically, morally, and intellectually, still stamped with the birthmarks of the old society from whose womb it emerges.

- Karl Marx, Critique of the Gotha Programme, 1875

>>2671814
>but it was always the ideology of the new emerging revolutionary mode of production. It interacted with feudalism, but wasn’t apart of it truly. Feudalism had its own versions of the left, which did not include liberalism.

Look: Liberalism = left wing of capital
Communism = To the left of the bourgeois political spectrum.

Simple as. Any further confusion on this matter is self-imposed. When people on here say "left" just mentally substitute "revolutionary" and you will no longer feel confused.

>>2671817
>that's literally what the term originally meant historically
Liberalism has been treated as relatively stand alone historically
<What we have to deal with here is a communist society, not as it has developed on its own foundations, but, on the contrary, just as it emerges from capitalist society; which is thus in every respect, economically, morally, and intellectually, still stamped with the birthmarks of the old society from whose womb it emerges.

This is not indicative of ideology that is apart of liberalism, but one that is leaving it behind all together.

>Liberalism = left wing of capital

Liberalism is the ideology of capital.
>Communism = To the left of the bourgeois political spectrum.
Communism is beyond the bourgeois

firstly stop saying words, secondly communism isn't liberalism, a system that explicitly rejects the liberal order cannot be defined in the french parliamentary system of "left, center, right", this is immediately obvious when you actually have a think about it

Any shutdown day updates?

>>2671842
they are both intimately linked historical developments that can't be cleanly broken apart in the idealist manner you are attempting. the obsession with getting people to use a different name for the thing as if it changes anything is textbook idealist form over content as well. the content of revolutionary communism as the real movement which abolishes bourgeois society is not effected at all by describing it as being in a metaphoric formal spatial relation to the political establishment of bourgeois society (i.e.the former being "left of" the latter).

>>2671848
see>>2671854

>>2671848
> a system that explicitly rejects the liberal order cannot be defined in the french parliamentary system of "left, center, right", this is immediately obvious when you actually have a think about it

Revolutionaries are to the left of the current system, whether that system is feudal absolutism, as it was in 1789, or capitalism, as it is now. You just don't like the optics of the word "left" and so reject it as inherently "bourgeois" failing to understand that the "left" has moved from "bourgeois revolutionaries" to "communist revolutionaries" in the past 237 years!

>>2671847

>>2671859
it's not an optics thing, it's a matter of correctly stating what something is, engels at one point said that the name "social-democracy" was an error for what it was, since it didn't emphasize that it was communist or even a revolutionary socialist movement outright, this type of observation is not new, is what i'm suggesting
>>2671856

>the tendency to explain human life in terms of human ideologies rather than explaining human ideologies in terms of human life.
<Idealism is a thought process (ex. rationalism) of how the material world adheres to ideas. Idealists follow a certain ideal concept (ex. faith) and understand everything from its adherence to that concept.
<Idealism is in contrast to materialism, a thought process (ex. dialectical materialism) of how the material world creates ideas. Such ideas thus created are not concrete and fixed, but are constantly changing and being remoulded by the differences and changes in the material world.
<Idealism can also be understood as the practice of understanding abstractions through other abstractions; where an abstraction is something that does not necessarily have basis nor relation to reality, but only exists in relation to other abstractions. The primary concern for the idealist is to create concepts that adequately explain (and change of viewpoint of) the world as we know it.
<Idealism may reject the existence of the external world all altogether (the world beyond thought, beyond sensation) or assert that while a world beyond sensation may exist, it is unknowable. These trends are known as Subjective Idealism. On the other hand, idealism may accept the objectivity of nature but regard the material as the expression of ideal forces such as the Will of God, the absolute Idea, etc whose nature is accessible to the Mind directly. These trends are known as Objective Idealism.

>i think it is useful as a means of describing political elements opposed to present and past socio-political forms. it includes but is not exhausted by revolutionary communists

>>2671871
my only note would be to say that it's wrong to put absolutists and constitutional monarchists on a "feudal" spectrum. this is a common misunderstanding. the neo-reactionaties were generally correct to point out that absolutism as a political movement consisted in the roll back of feudal systems of delegated authority and the centralization of power into something more closely resembling the empires of the axial age. the feudalist aristocracy would properly be understood as being somewhere to the right of absolutism.

My grandfather, who's funeral I missed when I moved here, played blues in the deep south right after segregation ended. He played the drums for a blues band. He was the only *white passing* (that one drop rule is a motherfucker!) member of the band. He would book the shows at various venues and I've been told a lot of those venues would try to cancel the show, or get real upset when the rest of the band showed up. Do you think he was worried about minimizing friction for those venues or bars? Or do you think he was willing to stand on principle for his people, against racism that was even more smothering then than it is now? I'd bet the latter, every time. I'd bet that band got banned from many a bar, many a venue, but they kept on playing the blues.

> Left-wing / Right-wing

Left/Right is the basic polarity of political temperament, the axis of political antagonism which manifests itself across all shades of politics, all epochs and social movements. Broadly speaking, the left-wing expresses that social force which is the most marginalised by, and has the least commitment to, the status quo and power relations of the existing society, and it responds to this position by being reformist or revolutionary. Meanwhile, the right-wing is by and large committed to reinforcement of, or at least adaptation to, the status quo and its power relations by being conservative or reactionary.

Communists think they're going to overthrow the mode of production but can't even agree with each other on the basic issue of whether they should present themselves as

>It’s inaccurate for being too specific.
incomplete is not innacurate, only imprecise. regardless, my definition is still the best practical singles sentence definition i've devised drawing straight on marx's basic statement of historical materialism in preface to a critique:
<It is not the consciousness of men that determines their existence, but their social existence that determines their consciousness.
>I have already spoken of liberalism existing along feudalism, so you are already wrong here.
that's the issue here though, is that your conception of fuedalism existing beside liberalism is an ahistoric idealist projection of 19th century political developments onto the 17th and 18th centuries. as i already pointed out above, by the time of 1789 feudalism as a distinct mode of production characterized by landed aristocracy with the delegated authority to collect rents from the bound peasantry was already being superseded by capitalist industry. absolutism and liberalism were two different answers to the question of what social relations should regulate the capitalist mode of production europe was already in the midst of transitioning to.

<The announcement was made by U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.

<In addition to the documents, numerous photos and videos related to Epstein and his activities will be released on Friday.

<According to Blanche, all women appearing in the photo and video materials have been censored, with the exception of Ghislaine Maxwell, who assisted Epstein.

>Liberalism existed before 1789
technically the first liberal revolution was cromwell's but people argue over how much that one fits the mold, since cromwell was a reluctant leader, and didn't want to kill king charles, and basically just wanted a less weak parliament in the face of charles's repeated trespasses upon the english house of lords, which was proto-bourgeois by that point.

then you have 1776 in America, which is colonial slave-owning aristocrats and merchants (proto bourgeoisie) revolting against the crown. But that was more of a prototype for anti-colonialism than a proper bourgeois revolution, and it wasn't until 1860s that America was truly an industrialized bourgeois republic that had moved past slavery.

in fact critique of the gotha programme is great to show ultras who think communism is completely unrelated to everything that came before because it combats lassallean sloganeering and shows how society will still require a structure throughout the transition (yes, transition!) from capitalism to communism, a structure that is continuous with and "stamped with the birthmarks of" the liberal society. Or do you think all the accumulated capital, commodities, laws, social relations, history, grudges, and hierarchies are going to disappear overnight on the eve of the revolution? Thank Nixon. In 1971/1972 he sealed the fate of the burger reich by

1) taking the US off the gold standard
2) Normalizing trade relations with china.

these two "mistakes" kept the US "stable" and "above water" in the short term but sealed the fate of the empire in the long term. Nixon won by dying before the consequences of his "mistakes" were ever realized. If Bordiga were in charge of China in 1980 he would have demanded that the Chinese proletariat die in a thermonuclear war with the USA rather than normalize relations with them and slowly steal away the productive forces. Face it: working hard in a commodity production economy for 50 years in order to erode US hegemony was smarter than being another socialist country that got CIA couped or becoming a nuclear ash heap or going the way of the USSR. China won because they navigated the contradictions and produced the best outcome given the variables. You meanwhile dream of the overnight abolition of commodity production before the material conditions have actually matured to allow that on a global scale.

<"The Communist Manifesto had as its object the proclamation of the inevitably impending dissolution of modern bourgeois property. But in Russia we find, face to face with the rapidly developing capitalist swindle and bourgeois landed property, just beginning to develop, more than half the land owned in common by the peasants. Now the question is: Can the Russian obschina […], though greatly undermined, yet a form of the primeval common ownership of land, pass directly to the higher form of communist ownership? Or, on the contrary, must it first pass through the process of dissolution as constitutes the historical evolution of the West?

>The only answer to that possible today is this: If the Russian Revolution becomes the signal for proletarian revolution in the West, so that both complement each other, the present Russian common ownership of land may serve as a starting-point for a communist development."
<Communist Manifesto, Preface to the Russian Edition, 1882, italics original

>>2671986
the levellers (1638-49) are considered the first "liberals" with their propaganda, which itself goes back to the "rule of law" of edward coke (1628) in his petition for the rights of the magna carta (1215) to be established. the magna carta itself came about from a class war between the royalty and landed nobility (barons), which wanted a separation of powers by a "council" to advise the king - what later becomes the "house of lords" and what is duplicated in cromwell's constitutions (1653-7). the first model government of 1295 was unicameral, and became bicameral in 1341, when the house of commons was separated as a means of delegating power (the "commoners" being the "third estate", comprised of artisans and peasants, or what is equivalent to the middle class). cromwell perpetuates the gatekeeping of middle class representation in his first constitution, "instrument of government" (1653) which limits representation to those earning £40,000+ (in today's currency, matched by the american revolution, which also limited political representation). the rise of the commons can be seen as the rise of the proto-bourgeoisie (e.g. "burgher"). from 1376-86 we had a rise in the impeachment of noblemen by the commons, alongside the peasant rebellion of 1381, which saw royal power submissive to the masses. the king was also deposed on 1399 by the commons, showing the changing power dynamics into the 15th century - a century which marx says saw the end of serfdom in england, and the propriety of property by an independent peasantry - til henry vii in 1489 began concentrating land ownership, leading to modern capitalist relations, as i write about here: >>2671909

the causes of the english civil war were many, but it was not due to any harm against the house of lords (which was the hereditary noble class, not the bourgeoisie), but largely by the suppression of parliament itself (which after 1628 was not recalled for 11 years, til the "short parliament" of 1640 and the later "long parliament" which actively sought to gain power against the king, aboloshing the star chamber (1640) and having the "triennial act" (1641) to secure the summoning of parliament at least once every 3 years. in 1642, following accusations as to charles' support of the irish, he entered parliament with 400 soldiers to arrest 5 MPs for treason, whom escaped, and charles was made more unpopular. also in 1642 was a list of "nineteen propositions" in an attempt to share power with the parliament in governing england, which was denied. the first battle of the english civil war was the battle of edgehill (1642). king charles i was tried for treason and executed in 1649, abolishing the monarchy, the house of lords and so establishing the commonwealth of england (1649-60).

cromwell established himself as "lord protector" and had a "council" of advisers, identical to the previous government structure, but with the expressed right of parliament to be supreme in matters of government. this then advanced the right of commoners to an absolute degree. after the restoration and glorious revolution (1660-88) we get the "bill of rights" (1689) which is where the state is constituted as it is now, with the security of various personal freedoms. if you dont see the english civil war as "liberal", then the glorious revolution certainly is, with the "bill of rights" preceding both the french "declaration of the rights of man" (1789) and US bill of rights (1791) by a century. certainly, the work of locke (1690-) comes out of this milieu, but with an ode to previous figures, such as the levellers and diggers, that exist in the revolutionary period.

i would define the general pursuit of "bourgeois revolution" as seeking the supremacy of the legislative branch in the national parliament (e.g. house of commons), which then gives sovereignty to the house leader. in other parliamentary systems, you have constitutions which give sovereignty to the executive, such as in the US - so is the US really sufficiently "bourgeois" or is it aristocratic? for example, the congress is composed of both the house and senate. the house proposes bills, the senate decides to pass them or not, and the executive signs the bill, making it a law. if power rests in the executive, then is this not just a constitutional monarchy posing as a republic? is the senate also not just a house of lords suppressing the house of commons? i speak on this here: >>2662133
i say that if the US system was like the UK, the speaker of the house would have sovereignty rather than the president. what do you think?

Apparently Trump’s new fed pick is the son-in-law of one of the billionaires behind the “seize Greenland” scheme and explicitly approves of Trump’s economic policies (calling tariffs a one-time price change) and in 2010 when unemployment was 10% he opposed the fed’s scheme to try and generate economic activity/jobs by lowering long term interest rates.

>>2672149
>are you saying the USA is so reactionary that it isn't even fully bourgeois?
i am just observing that the english revolution was spearheaded by a call for the "rule of law", the same as in france (t. rousseau), and with the US, its constititution and consecutive bill of rights limits the power of the state by its "checks and balances". if the executive is above the law, and the senate decides on law, then the legislature appears subordinated by other faculties. in the french system, there is a directly elected president like in the US, but he appoints a prime minister who manages the national assembly (parliament). however, the parliament may be lawfully dissolved in the case of emergency powers, retaining sovereign powers in the president. in the UK, the parliamentary majority appoints a prime minister who serves as sovereign power of the realm, placing power in the commons. it should also be noted that the early american revolutionaries wanted washington to be a hereditary monarch, so theres that.
>if the speaker of the house is sovereign, then wouldn't that make them just as much of a disguised monarch as the president is in the current system?
i wouldnt say so, since a parliament bases its power in territorial representation (each council having 1 seat), which can either be based in party politics or independence. what is at least superior in the US system is that the leader of the country doesnt have to belong to a party like in the UK, allowing for bipartisanship and unification.

>In the second Trump administration (2025–2026), there has been a notable chronological overlap between high-stakes military actions and the release of investigative files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
>For example, on January 3, 2026, the capture of a foreign head of state (Maduro) almost entirely buried reports concerning the DOJ's failure to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

>Jan. 3, 2026Legal Deadline Crisis: DOJ faces intense criticism for missing the Dec. 19 legal deadline for the full release.

>Operation Absolute Resolve: US captures Nicolás Maduro in Caracas, Venezuela.

>Dec. 25, 2025Pre-Christmas Batch: DOJ releases "thousands of pages" shortly before the holiday.

>Nigeria Airstrikes: Framed as a "Christmas gift" to protect Christians against ISIS.

>Dec. 19, 2025Transparency Act Deadline: Legal deadline for the DOJ to disclose all Epstein files.

>Operation Hawkeye Strike: Massive strikes on 70+ ISIS targets in Syria.

>Sept. 2, 2025House Oversight Release: 33,000+ pages released; includes "birthday book" and mentions of associates.

>First "Drug Boat" Strike: US carries out its first lethal strike against a vessel off the coast of Venezuela.

To draw attention away from the “large news media presence” outside the jail after Epstein’s death became known, officials concocted a plan.

According to an Aug. 16, 2019, memo, a jail supervisor told FBI agents that several employees had “used boxes and sheets to create what appeared to be a human body.” That was loaded into a white van labeled as belonging to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and media members followed when it left the jail.

But Epstein’s actual body, according to the interview notes, was loaded into a black vehicle, which departed “unnoticed.” As with many of the documents released Friday, names were blacked out, so the identities of the jail employees were not visible.

Its definitely a double-edged sword, not helping matters is there's a really cynical use of idpol. If you make the case especially as a white guy that the dems need to earn your vote, you're told that you're a misogynist or racist who's speaking from the position of being privileged enough to avoid any consequences from Republican rule. >Donald Trump, the president, had parties at Maralago called 'calendar girls' Jeffrey Epstein would bring the children in and trump would auction them off. He measured the children's vulva and vaginas by entering a finger and rated the children on tightness. The guests were elder men and included Elon Musk. Don jr. Trump. Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump were there. Attorney Allan Dershowitz was also there with Attorney Bob Shapiro. We were taken in rooms. forced to give oral sex to Donald J Trump. Forced to allow them to penetrate us. I was 13 years old when Donald J Trump raped me. Ghislaine Maxwell was also present.

>Epstein, the late paedophile financier, alleged that the Microsoft billionaire had asked him to procure the medication in what appeared to be draft emails he sent to himself, addressed to “Bill”, on July 18, 2013.

>In one email, Epstein appeared to accuse Gates of having “chosen to both disregard and discard our friendship” after six years.

>“To add insult to the injury you then subsequently with tears in your eyes, implore me to please delete the emails regarding your std, your request that I provide you antibiotics that you can surreptitiously give to Melinda, and the description of your penis,” Epstein wrote.

>>2672579
Bill Gates was involved with his murder. Anyone else remember that creepy interview he did with PBS? Judy Woodruff legit looked shook. He just straight up said: "Yeah, we fucking killed him, and I'll kill you too bitch if you keep being a nosy bitch."

>So mainly the same focus. I also want to ask you about something else in the public arena. It was reported at that time that you had a number of meetings with Jeffrey Epstein, who when you met him 10 years ago he was convicted of soliciting prostitution from minors. What did you know about him when you were meeting with him, as you've said yourself, in the hopes of raising money? Bill Gates: (11:11) I had dinners with him. I regret doing that. He had relationships with people he said would give to global health, which is an interest I have. Not nearly enough philanthropy goes in that direction. Those meetings were a mistake, they didn't result in what he purported, and I cut them off. That goes back a long time ago now, so there's nothing new on that. Judy Woodruff: (11:43) It was reported that you continued to meet with him over several years and that, in other words, a number of meetings. What did you do when you found out about his background? Bill Gates: (12:00) Well, I've said, I regretted having those dinners. There's absolutely nothing new on that. Judy Woodruff: (12:06) Is there a lesson for you? For anyone else looking at this? Bill Gates: (12:12) Well, he's dead, so in general you always have to be careful. I'm very proud of what we've done in philanthropy, very proud of the work of the Foundation. That's what I get up every day and focus on.

Former CNN host Don Lemon indicted under Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, other laws, over Minneapolis church protest. Indictment PDF attached for any interest.

Background:
>In January 2026, Lemon livestreamed an anti-ICE protest inside Cities Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota, during a worship service. Activists alleged that a pastor associated with the church also held a leadership role within U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Lemon interviewed protesters and congregants during a multi-hour livestream.

I was always into pizzagate to libel politicians because it's based actually. But there was actually a lot of real sketchy shit in the emails. Tony and John Podesta were childhood friends with House Speaker Dennis Hastert when they were kids and they attended a summer camp for future world leaders in Japan. Then when Hastert got indicted for diddling kids, one of the said buddies from that camp sent Podesta an email that Dennis should " vanish to an undisclosed Japanese island." Whatever the fuck that means.

>Venezuela interim president Delcy Rodriguez plans amnesty law for prisoners, vows to convert major prison center

>Jan 30 (Reuters) - Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodriguez on Friday announced a proposed "amnesty law" for hundreds of prisoners in the country, and said the infamous Helicoide detention center in the capital Caracas, which rights groups have long denounced as the site of prisoner abuse, will be converted into a center for sport and social services.

>"May it be a law that serves to heal the wounds left by political confrontation, violence, and extremism. May it serve to restore justice in our country and restore peaceful coexistence among Venezuelans,” Rodriguez said at an event at the Supreme Court of Justice.

The proposed law could affect hundreds of detainees who remain behind bars in the South American country, as well as former prisoners who have already been conditionally released . The new law will cover cases running from 1999 until today, but will exclude those who may have participated in killings, serious abuses of human rights and drug trafficking, Rodriguez said .
Rodriguez said that the Helicoide prison, a long-standing symbol of alleged government repression, will instead be converted into a center for sports and social services. In 2022, a United Nations report claimed that Venezuela's state security agencies subjected detainees at the infamous prison, originally designed as a mall, to torture. The government rejected the U.N.'s findings.

Relatives of prisoners at the Helicoide have held vigils and camped overnight outside the prison in recent weeks, demanding their relatives be freed.

Families and rights advocates have long demanded that charges and convictions against detainees who are considered political prisoners be wiped. Opposition politicians, dissident members of the security services, journalists and rights activists are often subject to charges like terrorism and treason, which their families say are unjust and arbitrary.

Rights group Foro Penal says it has verified 303 liberations of political prisoners since the government announced a new series of releases on January 8.
Government officials - who deny holding political prisoners and say those jailed have committed crimes - have given a much higher figure of releases, of more than 600, but have not been clear about the timeline and appear to be including releases from previous years. The government has never provided an official list of how many prisoners will be released nor who they are.

Families of prisoners say releases have progressed too slowly, and Foro Penal says 711 political prisoners remain jailed, an updated count including prisoners whose fearful families had not previously reported their detentions.
"A general amnesty is welcome provided that its terms and conditions include all of civil society, without discrimination, that it does not become a cover for impunity, and that it contributes to dismantling the repressive apparatus of political persecution," Alfredo Romero, the director of Foro Penal, said on X.

Among the long-time advocates of releases and amnesty is Nobel Peace Prize winner and opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who has several close allies imprisoned.
The recent releases were announced after the U.S. capture of President Nicolas Maduro and his arraignment in a New York court on narcoterrorism charges, which he denies.

>US pitches Venezuelan crude to India as its Russian oil imports slow, sources say

>NEW DELHI, Jan 30 (Reuters) - The United States, which imposed tariffs on India last year for buying Venezuelan oil, has told Delhi it can resume those purchases soon to help replace imports of Russian oil, three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

India pledged to slash Russian crude oil purchases after Washington also hiked tariffs related to that activity, and India is on track to lower its Russian oil imports by several hundred thousand barrels per day in the coming months, according to the sources, who declined to be identified.

President Donald Trump imposed 25% tariffs on countries buying Venezuelan oil including India in March 2025, and his administration ramped up a campaign against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, whom U.S. forces captured on January 3.
Since then, Washington has begun directing the Caracas government and plans to control Venezuela's oil industry indefinitely. The U.S. effort to supply Venezuelan crude to India comes as Washington also seeks to reduce Russian oil revenues that are funding the war in Ukraine.

The sources did not provide detail on whether the Venezuelan oil would be marketed by outside trading houses like Vitol or Trafigura or would be sold directly by Venezuela’s state oil company PDVSA.
The White House and the U.S. Treasury Department declined to comment. India's oil minister and foreign ministry did not respond to emails seeking comment.
India became a major buyer of Russian oil after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 triggered Western sanctions that drove down its price.

Indian Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri last week said India is diversifying its crude sources as its Russian oil imports fall.
Two of the Reuters sources said India is preparing to cut Russian oil imports to below one million barrels per day soon.
In January, they were around 1.2 million bpd, and are projected to decline to about 1 million bpd in February and 800,000 bpd in March, one of those two sources said

The second of the two sources said those imports are expected eventually to decline to about 500,000-600,000 bpd, helping the nation clinch a trade deal with the United States.
U.S. tariffs on Indian goods reached 50% in August as Washington added a further 25% tariff over purchases of Russian oil. Challenges posed by Western sanctions eventually prompted Indian refiners to increase imports from other sources.

Data from trade sources showed India's Russian oil imports fell to their lowest level in two years in December, lifting OPEC's share of Indian imports to an 11-month high.
Indian refiners have been buying more oil from Middle Eastern, African and South American countries to make up for a drop in Russian oil imports.
State-run Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL.NS), opens new tab, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL.NS), opens new tab and private refiners HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd have already stopped buying Russian oil.
Private refiner Reliance Industries (RELI.NS), opens new tab, operator of the world's largest refining complex, will buy up to 150,000 bpd Russian oil from February, a company source said this week.
Other state refiners Indian Oil Corp (IOC.NS), opens new tab and Bharat Petroleum Corp (BPCL.NS), opens new tab have slowed purchases of Russian oil, officials at the India Energy Week conference this week said.

>Trump hails venezuela move and praises Delcy Rodriguez reforms, says oil exports to resume

>Washington, Jan 31 (IANS) President Donald Trump said that the US-led effort involving Venezuela is progressing well, saying oil exports are expected to resume under an arrangement backed by Washington.

>"The Venezuelan situation, the leadership is doing a very good job," Trump said. He said the United States is "getting along very, very well" with those involved in the process.

>Trump said countries will soon begin taking Venezuelan oil and that the United States will play a leading role. "We're inviting countries of the world," he said. "They're going to be starting to take the oil."

>He said the plan has worked out smoothly so far. "We're going to be heading that with the country, and it's worked out really well," Trump said.

Trump did not provide details on which countries would participate or how the oil arrangements would be structured. He also did not address the timeline for exports or pricing.

His comments were part of a wider Oval Office session that included discussion of Iran, Ukraine, and domestic policy. Trump spoke confidently about the Venezuela effort and framed it as a success.

Venezuela holds some of the world's largest proven oil reserves, but production has fallen sharply over the past decade due to economic collapse, infrastructure decay, and sanctions.

Meanwhile, Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Friday demanded answers from oil trading firms Vitol and Trafigura over their role in the Trump administration's handling of Venezuelan oil sales.

In a letter, Rep. Robert Garcia of California, the committee's ranking Democrat, questioned the companies' involvement in an initial Venezuelan oil sale valued at about $500 million, saying Vitol and Trafigura stood to make significant profits.

Garcia said campaign finance records show that Vitol senior trader John Addison had previously donated $6 million to President Donald Trump's campaign, raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest.

"The Trump administration's shady business dealings regarding Venezuelan oil are being brought to light, and Oversight Democrats have a lot of questions," Garcia said in a statement.

He accused Trump of using his position to enrich himself while "he deceives the American people and exploits Venezuela," and said Democrats would continue pressing for details on which companies are profiting from US foreign policy decisions.

In the letter, Garcia wrote that after Trump took unilateral action to deploy the US military to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, the administration made clear it intended to control Venezuela's oil industry and its revenue.

He said the White House subsequently gathered oil drilling and trading companies to present "lucrative opportunities" tied to Venezuelan oil sales, and raised concerns about whether the firms received advance notice of military action. Garcia said the committee is seeking details on any agreements with the administration and how oil revenues are being handled.

>Trump removes some Venezuelan oil sanctions

>The U.S. is lifting some sanctions on Venezuelan oil, seeking to allow American firms to trade and sell more oil that is produced there.

The move comes as the administration has said it will sell Venezuelan oil following its capture of leader Nicolás Maduro.

Previously, two commodities traders, Trafigura and Vitol, were given permission to help facilitate the sales.

The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control this week issued a general license that says U.S. companies can conduct some transactions related to the exploration, refining, sale or transport of Venezuelan oil

While U.S. firm Chevron is already producing oil in Venezuela, previously sanctioned oil was also being produced by state-run oil firm Petróleos de Venezuela.

After the U.S. captured and arrested Maduro, President Trump said the South American country would turn over between 30 million and 50 million barrels that the president himself would control.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright later said the U.S. would market more than just those barrels and would control oil coming out of Venezuela “indefinitely.” The Energy Department said the administration would work with “the world’s leading commodity marketers and key banks to execute and provide financial support for these crude oil and crude products sales

Zack Hadzismajlovic, head of the global trade, Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States and export controls practice group at law firm McCarter & English, said that as a result of this week’s move to lift the sanctions “for the first time in over six years, the exploitation of these oil resources…becomes possible.”

“This is now potentially opening up the market to … all of the US, oil and energy companies and I think that given both our geographic and market closeness … U.S. entities are probably poised to benefit most from all of this,”
Hadzismajlovic said, noting that Venezuela also stands to benefit because the country’s oil should be able to be sold at higher price

Flights will provide the opportunity for business, leisure and humanitarian travel to the region.
American will work closely with regulatory agencies, key stakeholders, union partners and team members across the airline on safely resuming service to Venezuela.

>Iranian officials have said during the past few weeks that they would not engage in the same process in the event of more attacks. In a recent interview, Dr. Foad Izadi, a professor at the University of Tehran, told Drop Site that in the past “a number of high-ranking military officials … made the decision to inform the United States when they were attacking the U.S. bases.”

>“The idea was basically trying to ride out the Trump administration, not to confront him in a serious manner, respond to him, but respond in a very limited style so they don’t start a huge war with the United States,” he said. “This was their decision. And they were killed in June,” during the 12-day bombing campaign unleashed against Iran by the U.S. and Israel.

>Izadi said that the new leadership of the military in Iran has determined that the previous policy failed to deter U.S. and Israeli aggression. “The number that I hear is the goal is to get at least 500 American soldiers. The casualties that they need to have if Iran is attacked again is at least 500,” Izadi said. “I think the Iranian government, the Iranian military has decided to respond quite harshly this time because you cannot have a country when that country is threatened to be attacked militarily every other week.”

Big words. But they've cucked in the past, so I just don't trust their conviction.
