>>2802000It's not so much that I agree with homophobia on any level but that I'm tired(fatigued?) of how leftism has become synonymous with yelling TRANS RIGHTS, FEMINISM FUCK YEAH, MORE FEMALE CEO'S IN THE BOURGEOIS, and doing nothing else, and leftists are in general seen as a collective of social "undesirables" and not representative of the working class. That isn't the fault of these individual groups but more a fault of how organizing is done in America based around social issues instead of economic ones. The entire basis for the modern American Left is the same as the Democratic party: trying to form a fragile big tent coalition of groups with no real strong positions on anything except their own identity and then immediately collapsing as soon as any ideological conflict arises.
this is probably most obviously evident with how even among the American left it's impossible to have a reasoned discussion on Mao or Stalin without the discussion inevitably turning into trying to disprove CIA propaganda and red scare nonsense that has been ingrained in the American psyche.
I don't think LGBT people are uniquely imperialist, more like the entirety of American politics is united under imperialism and the "left" is no different in its demands to enforce cultural imperialism for the sake of protecting gays/women/etc in whatever country the US decides to wage war with. I think by this point people have kinda caught on about the inherent imperialism involved in the Ukraine war but for a good few years organizations like DSA were paralyzed by infighting over whether Russia is the enemy for oppressing gays or Ukraine is the enemy for promoting US interests. the same debate sort of happens on the fringes when it comes to Iran but at the very least people are smarter about it now and less prone to falling for it.
I guess if I had to pick a position it would be China's stance on LGBT: that is, not giving a shit who you have sex with and focusing primarily on rooting out western cultural imperialism from civil rights debates and focusing entirely on the inherent right to peaceful coexistence. gay people need to be free and there is no inherent societal sin in being gay and nothing "degenerate" about it, but they should be assimilated into a greater collective of the Working Class. we don't need every marginalized group to have their own flag or political advocacy group that can just unilaterally decide to betray the movement. they should be united under a single banner of Socialism and these discussions should be limited to internal discussions within the Party. the civil rights of gays, women, trans people, brown people, black people, white people, etc are already baked into the socialist platform and should be discussed as part of our greater ideology instead of a strategic coalition of marginalized groups. if you're gay and not an ally of the revolution, I have no sympathy for you or your plight, you aren't gonna get me to die protecting your rights, because I'm a communist that wants to advance communism, yknow?
So while Haz is a retard I think there is a genuine fatigue with the performative style of big tent politics that exists in the US. It's like people heard the phrase "virtue signalling" and decided to turn it into their entire political identity for fear someone might accuse them of being bigoted for not being vocal enough in their support for gays. Like, if you aren't a homophobe you shouldn't feel pressured to pander so hard lol, just preach your message wholeheartedly and let people decide if they want to support you or not. Yelling TRANS RIGHTS every time you're in front of a mic just seems disingenuous and performative.
Feel free to call me a faggot or retarded etc I don't really mind. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion on the matter since I don't even know what's "correct" here and am just venting.
