Treat machine broke

How are there real people that suffer genuine agita over how much money a movie does or does not make. What the actual fuck? When did what movies the public is watching turn into weird team sports? YOU AREN'T MAKING ANY OF THAT MONEY! WHO CARES?? This has got to be all astroturfed by the weird hollywood failsons like shapiro who have a grudge because they never got hired that's the only thing that makes sense or it's a conspiracy by the studios to get people to go see "their team's" movie. I just can't believe people would really fall for that, after a few times you would just stop caring once you realize it doesn't effect your life at all, right?

I was being (partially) facetious, but the points about holding the us over a barrel when it comes to oil prices seems questionable because it also tanks the export markets. Malacca problem being solved is very interesting though but if they really wanted to make that go away they could just approve power of siberia 2. Thats why im not convinced at all the cpc has any intentions on taiwan. Instead they can sit pretty, decommodify life and progress to a more advanced socialism as markets are abolished in housing education and medicine for starters

>comfort has gone down in the imperial every year for a long time now. food and fuel get more expensive, the currency inflates, the governments becomes more reactionary and repressive, more prisons are built than schools and hospitals. the funny thing is none of this is necessary, not even to preserve american hegemony. the imperialists literally could have taken a smarter strategy that relied more on soft power, and produced fewer corpses both domestically and abroad, but the population is uneducated and reactionary, and brays for a strongman. then you ride in on your high horse and say people are still too comfortable. well we're not living like people in Gaza yet and I hope we never have to. >>2870967
>Nobody says that. Marxists simply reject the notion that socialism will make people's lives worse once the revolution is won, whereas third worldists insist that it will.

I think one of the things that got me arguing with Felix initially was he'd insist "Marxism will destroy living standards." Which is a fucking insane thing to say if you're actually a Marxist. No one is going to fight a revolution in the name of making their lives worse; yet it was one position him (and most other third worldists) could never ever move on from: "Marxism is going to destroy the American standard of living", it was only after multiple people kept calling him on it that he'd say: "What, you don't think a violent civil war would destroy the standard of living?"

Of course, upon clarifying that war would ruin the standard of living, I don't think most people would disagree, but he was specifically saying Marxism would, as in, the actual implementation of a socialist state would ruin peoples' lives. Even when people explained how at its most fundamental level what he was saying was doing Socialism no favors and he actually should choose his words carefully, he'd go right back to "Marxism would destroy the standard of living/America MUST be destroyed!"

And of course you've got third worldists who'll insist that when you push back on the notion that Marxism would in some way be "bad" for our country you're actually saying that people who own multiple homes wont be affected, which is ridiculous.

>>2870996
yep unionization was peak in the 1960s

Which is to say, making an absolutely ridiculous claim like "communism's goal is to DESTROY America and its standard of living" and then retreat up to the more defensible position of "woagh calm down all I said was I wanted the American GOVERNMENT destroyed, I'm advocating the same strategies as MLK! You think MLK was too radical? Is that it?" when confronted enough, followed by going back to the bullshit when he insists that MLK was a reactionary that should have been shot by communists

THERE IS LITERALLY MORE THAN ENOUGH STUFF FOR EVERYONE AND OVER HALF OF IT GETS THROWN OUT TO MAINTAIN PROFIT RATES, THIRD WORLDERS COULD LITERALLY LIVE LIKE KINGS WITHOUT FIRST WORLDERS LOSING ANYTHING, THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE LIVE UNDER A BOURGEOIS CLASS DICTATORSHIP WHICH CAUSES AN ANARCHY OF PRODUCTION AND A COMPETITION WHERE THERE COULD BE COOPERATION. IT IS NOT A ZERO SUM GAME BETWEEN FIRST WORLD AND THIRD WORLD WORKING CLASSES. FIRST WORLD AND THIRD WORLD WORKING CLASSES MUST COOPERATE TO PLAN PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION AFTER OVERTHROWING THE BOURGEOISIE. >Of course, upon clarifying that war would ruin the standard of living, I don't think most people would disagree, but he was specifically saying Marxism would, as in, the actual implementation of a socialist state would ruin peoples' lives.
Yeah a war would do that but people get hopelessly confused about this stuff. A catastrophic civil war wouldn't be a "preference," it'd probably happen because the army split rather than just crushing the workers, but it would be better if the army didn't split and just sided the workers and got it over with relatively bloodlessly. But the army splitting and a civil war destroying the country doesn't seem like something you'd wanna rank as a first-order preference. In any event it's a really big historical event that is not determined by individual will.

I think it comes out of some bizarre, mystical ultra-left thinking as a mental model. Example would be, say, in the Bolshevik revolution there was a lot of suffering, and those were due to historical circumstances. It doesn't mean the revolution was failing because living standards declined (there were objective reasons why: war, blockades, etc.). But then you get people who think that is, like, the "goal" of Marxism. Like having a pretty militaristic state where people are drilled for war all the time. It was like that because a large % of the working class died in the war, and the party which won had basically gone into a highly militarized mode to survive.

>>2871103
Please, no.

How about that soccer ting?

It has pitilessly torn asunder the motley feudal ties that bound man to his โ€œnatural superiorsโ€, and has left remaining no other nexus between man and man than naked self-interest, than callous โ€œcash paymentโ€. It has drowned the most heavenly ecstasies of religious fervour, of chivalrous enthusiasm, of philistine sentimentalism, in the icy water of egotistical calculation. It has resolved personal worth into exchange value, and in place of the numberless indefeasible chartered freedoms, has set up that single, unconscionable freedom โ€” Free Trade. In one word, for exploitation, veiled by religious and political illusions, it has substituted naked, shameless, direct, brutal exploitation.

This decline in all fields except money showcases that it relates to global nihilism about the future and believing in essentially nothing including no religion, community, history, etc. This has happened multiple times in different crisis moments

Just had a thought, but I think in some part the decline in religiosity is closer to a project that mightโ€™ve started with evangelicalism and new age stuff. Like youโ€™ll see a lot of โ€œIโ€™m spiritual, not religiousโ€ stuff in some of the polls on declining religiosity. Itโ€™s less a communal practice and more something of a personal preference. I think the rise of various kinds of paganism and โ€œwitchcraftโ€ is a symptom of that; the future may be less people adhering to any one religious practice and more people creating little shrines of a variety of religious figuresโ€”thereโ€™s a great moment in the HBO documentary โ€œRenFaireโ€ where you find out the owner of the eponymous fair built a church for himself on his land and worships โ€œJesus, Buddha, and the Angel Moroniโ€ and we might see something like that become increasingly the norm; people with no religious affiliation but shrines decorated with fetishes to beings they want to invoke.

Shit, maybe even conservatives will get in on the new paganismโ€”forming strange shrines asking Trump, Chris Kyle, and White Jesus to watch over them.

Now personally I think thereโ€™s a rather sad aspect to this. I think communal religious experience is just asโ€”if not moreโ€”important than private religious practice. A group of pagans celebrating Samhain or holding a Blot would be preferable I think compared to people just retreating into an entirely individual theology.

Either way I think religion is more likely to morph than die.

I think it's more you have a biased and secularized view of spirituality, like a lot of people, and see it more as a social club. Some people are actually serious about it and spirituality has always been about solitude and personal practice. Jesus alone in the desert and what not.

I never liked the term paganism and it's strange to me how it's used in academic context when it doesn't mean anything other than "heretic" really.

I think meditation is the best spiritual practice. You don't even have to have any spiritual beliefs to do it. The soyence says it's good for you and even builds neurons.

>Meditation physically rewires the brain (neuroplasticity) by altering neuron structure and connectivity. It thickens the prefrontal cortex for better focus and shrinks the amygdala to reduce stress. Regular practice also quiets the default mode network, curbing anxiety, and increases gray matter to aid memory and emotional regulation

https://stanfordmag.org/contents/what-happens-when-you-meditate
https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/mindfulness-meditation-improves-connections-in-the-brain-201104082253

I never really got into group meditation. I don't see how that really helps in any way. To me it's like group reading or writing or something, which I guess helps some people? Doesn't really make sense to me there is any advantage to silently doing an individual activity with a group but to each their own.

>>2871615
And what's the worst aspect of religion? It's having authority figures trying to control your life as if that was something people were missing, lol. Meditation and independent practice are the opposite of that.

I suspect it might have to do with mirror neurons. I also thought I did everything better solitary but then I started going to the gym instead of exercising at home and I felt way more motivated. Maybe it was the equipment and the dedicated environment, but also looking around and seeing other people work out gave me motivation. I'm not very social so this surprised me.

It's a lot like "nonwhite" or "POC" in that it lumps all these heterogeneous groups into a single category by simple virtue of not belonging to some implied "main" or "normal" group.

First time I've been told I've got a secular view of spirituality.

See I don't deny that its important within the broader context of religion to have a personal spirituality; y'know, your own "Jesus in the desert" moment. My fear is that when that personal spiritual experience isn't grounded in a communal religious life (not necessarily "become a priest" but rather sharing in the religion with others) the risk someone runs is a kind of self-flattery at best and megalomaniacal psychosis. They don't see "God" or "Reality" as conceptually something beyond the self and more see it as a reflection of the self.

That's why I said I'd much rather see even Pagan expressions of faith which retain that communal grounding over wholly individualized religious practices. And to be clear I think this is a danger for just about anyone, there are plenty of Christians who'd supplant God with their own ego.

As a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist, I understand that โ€œReligionโ€ is a key part of the Reactionary Superstructure of every Pre-Socialist Mode of Production (ie. >See I don't deny that its important within the broader context of religion to have a personal spirituality;
It's really the only thing. If you have that anything can be a part of your spiritual experience. So a communal spiritual experience with other people also seeking spiritual experience isn't a bad thing per se. I think organized religion can actually lead you further and be the block itself to attaining spiritual experience, enlightenment, whatever you want to call it. Where instead of actually having the experience, you are merely talking about it and trying to intellectualize it.
>>2871593
And you're kind of sneering at some supposed self-invented "pagan" idolatry and ritualism, but the Catholic church is built on that. Basically you're going:
>Heh, these fools, don't they know they're not even doing the magic rituals the right way?
I think rituals can have their place in spiritual practice but only in the same way that having your "daily ritual" that you do to prepare yourself for the day ahead or your "daily ritual" you do before bed. The ritual is only important in the sense of what kind of mental effect it has upon yourself and each person's will be different. Once you lose sight of that, you're turning to superstition.

And to speak of the dangers of ego, man. Organized religion are the kings of dangerous egos. Just because you've transferred your ego identity to a group doesn't make it any less such. You know, like nationalists, Nazis, other cults. Really it is the worst type of self-flattery and megalomaniac psychosis" because you have another real person reinforcing it. "Folie a deux" and all that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folie_%C3%A0_deux

And then the whole hierarchy and submitting to authority is also obviously bad for a lot of obvious reasons, but even on the lighter end of bad, the idea of you're going to have another person do your own spiritual work on your behalf is a huge roadblock. Like you're in a workout group, and you ask your trainer "I've been having some lower back pain, can you do some sit-ups for me?" That's fucking crazy.

But… but they said it multiple times! How can they still do this?

>?SANFORD, Maine โ€” Former state Senate President Troy Jackson emerged from a whirlwind weekend of voting as Maine Democratsโ€™ likely pick to take on GOP Sen. Susan Collins.

>By Sunday night, all of Jacksonโ€™s major opponents had dropped out of the race, including Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, physician Nirav Shah and former congressional staffer Jordan Wood, who reversed course after initially committing to remain in the race.

>Bellows made her announcement Sunday morning, while Shah exited the race Sunday evening after Democrats across the state selected delegates to next weekโ€™s state nominating convention. Jackson quickly established a seemingly insurmountable advantage in delegates as his supporters swept counties throughout the state.

>Jacksonโ€™s supporters won 481 of the 500 convention seats up for grabs this weekend, according to his campaign. Those delegates are not technically required to support Jackson at the convention, but with such a strong showing, his nomination became a foregone conclusion.

>A logger and former legislator, Jackson doesnโ€™t officially become the nominee until the state convention next week. There, delegates will pick a new nominee to take on GOP Sen. Susan Collins, replacing primary winner Graham Platner after he abruptly ended his campaign last week following a sexual assault allegation, which he denied.

<โ€œI think that Troy can beat Susan Collins. I think itโ€™s going to be difficult, though, because he helped introduce us to Graham and got a lot of โ€” conveyed a lot of trust and authority onto him, as did Bernie Sanders,โ€ Wood told NBC News at the York County meeting Sunday morning. Sanders endorsed both Platner and Jackson in their primaries earlier this year, but has stayed neutral after Platner ended his Senate bid.

>That experience helped shape his populist, labor-oriented political identityโ€”and his path has had quite the independent streak.

>Jackson first ran for the Maine House as a Republican in 2000, lost, then ran as an independent in 2002 and won. He joined the Democratic Party before his 2004 reelection, citing mutual support for collective bargaining rights for independent loggers and trucking contractors.

>Yet, despite joining the party, Jackson has continued to win elections in territories that have become increasingly Republican. He is fondly referred to as the โ€œJohnny Cash of the Allagash.โ€

>Thatโ€™s because Black voters are a moderating force within the Democratic Party. Itโ€™s hard for some people to understand, but among Democrats, Black people tend to be much more moderate than white people. Itโ€™s not true overall, because there are a lot more white Republicans than there are Black Republicans; most Black people are, in fact, Democrats. But white people who are Democrats tend to be well to the left of Black people who are Democrats.

>This matters because the socialist left is perpetually claiming that theirs is the agenda of the working class. And yet their voters are not the working class. Their voters are elite people, and people who control elite institutions. The activists who picked Platner to be the candidate in Maine were nepo babies and elite college graduates who thought that a gruff-sounding guy would be perfect to appeal to blue-collar voters in Maine, and there was no need to scrutinize his platform or check to make sure he didnโ€™t have any, say, sexual assault accusations against him.

I suppose I should just do a textdump of the article.

The insult (and itโ€™s most definitely an insult) is jarringly counterintuitive. It conflates the Democratsโ€™ team color with President Trumpโ€™s Make America Great Again slogan, in all its blazing glory.
โ€œBlue MAGAโ€ is a call-out increasingly used online by young progressives, who reflect what pollsters find is Gen Zโ€™s broader lack of faith in traditional party politics. Older liberals who fail to grasp the urgency of the moment are, in the young progressivesโ€™ view, nearly as dangerous as Trump and his supporters. And it was enjoyable for the extremely online left to watch their elders react with displeasure to the rise of candidates associated with the Democratic Socialists of America.
Or as the influential progressive streamer Hasan Piker put it in May: โ€œBlue MAGA is crying a lot lately.โ€
He uses the term to describe what he sees as illogical devotion to a party establishment.
โ€œBlue MAGA is about cultlike loyalty to the Democratic Party, but unlike MAGA, it isnโ€™t centered around one person,โ€ Piker said via text message. โ€œItโ€™s centered around the image of a party that consultants and lobbyists have carefully curated.โ€
Itโ€™s not an apples-to-apples comparison, as progressives freely acknowledge. But itโ€™s close enough, especially since social media rewards labels with fuzzy borders that are easy to apply. โ€œMAGA leaves the power in the hands of Donald Trump,โ€ Piker said. โ€œBlue MAGA leaves the power in the hands of a neoliberal Democratic Party that tells them better things arenโ€™t possible.โ€
That feeling of hostility toward the far left from moderate Democrats engendered an equally strong with-friends-like-these backlash.
โ€œIf you do dare validly critique a Democrat, you are a traitor to the cause instead of a constituent acting out of valid concern,โ€ Michael Kocher, a progressive content creator, wrote in an email. In one video posted to TikTok, where he has 236,000 followers, Kocher mocks Representative Hakeem Jeffries as being on โ€œlife supportโ€ after three anti-establishment, far-left candidates won primary contests in New York. (A spokeswoman for Jeffries did not offer comment for this article. On social media, last month, he congratulated the progressive candidates who won in New York City, depicting their common enemy as โ€œfar-right extremism.โ€)
โ€œBlue MAGA Melts Down,โ€ Kocherโ€™s video was titled.

What does โ€˜Blue MAGAโ€™ mean?
People who use โ€œBlue MAGAโ€ grasp that it is imprecise and inexact. They donโ€™t think that matters all that much.
โ€œI think the term, just like so many online, has taken on a life of its own,โ€ said the content creator Will McCaffery, who has about 220,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok.
โ€œAs with a lot of internet insults, the meaning kind of drifts to fit whatever insult we want to levy at that particular group at that time,โ€ McCaffery added in an email. โ€œIn this case, the group is just the vitriolic defenders of establishment Democrats and liberalism. Itโ€™s not that theyโ€™ve adopted MAGA strategies into a blue ideology; itโ€™s that they are a MAGA ideology that has just put a blue label on.โ€
To the progressive podcaster Jerone Ingram, โ€œBlue MAGAโ€ is the triumph of institutional loyalty over political imagination. โ€œRed versus blue โ€” nothing else matters, just as long as Democrats win,โ€ he said when asked to define the term.
Inherent in the insult is the conviction that the original MAGA has been a malevolent force in American politics. Liberals who wore knit pink โ€œpussy hatsโ€ to the 2017 Womenโ€™s March and attended โ€œNo Kingsโ€ rallies in 2025 would seem to agree. That they have been branded โ€œBlue MAGAโ€ by progressives appears to indicate that, for some, their efforts have not been nearly enough.
Among the furious and impatient is a progressive TikToker who writes and performs as Blakeley. In a video last month, as moderate Democrats distanced themselves from some D.S.A. candidates and their positions, Blakeley criticized โ€œBlue MAGAโ€ as โ€œfascist collaborators.โ€

No one wants to be โ€˜Blue MAGAโ€™
It turns out that people like being called โ€œBlue MAGAโ€ about as much as they like being branded a โ€œKaren.โ€
โ€œDemocrats have always had to contend with a wing of the party that was not only far to the left of the Democratic mainstream but also one that portrays itself as intellectually and morally superior than the rest of Democratic voters,โ€ said Jon Cowan, who co-founded the moderate think tank Third Way. โ€œThey tend to be young, highly educated, white, urban transplants who have no patience for any nuance or dissenting views.โ€
โ€œThey have absolutely no clue how arrogant and condescending they sound,โ€ Cowan said after viewing one of the TikTok clips bashing โ€œBlue MAGA.โ€
Max Rose, who represented Staten Island and a part of Brooklyn in Congress from 2019 to 2021, is a combat veteran and a vocal supporter of Israel. During his time on Capitol Hill, he regularly antagonized progressives. After the 2024 election, he considered running to lead the Democratic National Committee โ€” a move some would call very โ€œBlue MAGA.โ€
Reached by phone this month, Rose said he welcomed an injection of youthful energy into the party ranks, but not if it devolved into an all-the-neighbors-are-watching fight.
โ€œYou can primary whoever you want, bro,โ€ Rose said. But fighting fellow Democrats instead of Republicans is, in his view, โ€œidiocy.โ€
Where does the term Blue MAGA come from?
On July 23, 2015, Trump arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border debuting a hat emblazoned with his new campaign slogan: โ€œMake America Great Again.โ€
โ€œBlue MAGAโ€ followed some two years later.
There were scattered online references to the term in 2017, according to Know Your Meme, a site that tracks internet culture. But back then, usage remained relatively rare.
During the 2020 Democratic primaries, some people on the left used the term to criticize supporters of more moderate candidates โ€” specifically, fans of Joe Biden.
In the 2024 contest, โ€œBlue MAGAโ€ took on an edgier connotation. How could Democrats not see that Biden didnโ€™t have the stamina for a re-election contest, progressives wondered? Were they as blind to their leaderโ€™s faults as the left thought the G.O.P. was to theirs?
โ€œYou have this anger building at seeing the Democratic establishment try these more moderate candidates again and again and again and again,โ€ Andrew Flack, a Los Angeles-based commentator, said, describing how the leftโ€™s frustration had grown over the last several years. โ€œThe entire time, the left is saying, โ€˜We need to be more progressive,โ€™โ€ he added.

Who else has been called โ€˜Blue MAGAโ€™?
Some moderates have lobbed the โ€œBlue MAGAโ€ charge back at progressives, describing their far-left positions as analogous to what they see as MAGAโ€™s own ideological excesses.
โ€œThe D.S.A. and their radical allies are actually the ones enabling Red MAGA,โ€ Cowan, of Third Way, said, going on to characterize their views as calling for โ€œabolishing all prisons, police and borders.โ€
In recent days, moderates have applied the label to supporters of Graham Platner, the progressive Maine candidate who dropped his bid for the U.S. Senate after a rape allegation against him surfaced. (Platner has denied the allegation.) Even before that, Platner had faced questions about a tattoo that appeared to display Nazi imagery, as well as incendiary online postings.
โ€œI have been shocked to watch my party embrace what I believe is blue MAGA,โ€ Shannon Watts, an advocate for gun control, said on a podcast. She was describing her shock at โ€œthe amount of hate and vitriol I have endured online, on X, because of my opposition to Graham Platner.โ€
In 2025, Vanity Fair noted that Representative Ro Khanna, a Democrat of California, used the phrase as a lighthearted allusion to what the magazine called his โ€œkinder, gentler version of Trumpism.โ€
Khanna now rejects the term, however. โ€œI wouldnโ€™t call myself โ€˜Blue MAGA,โ€™โ€ he said in a text message. โ€œI call myself Team America.โ€
Piker, the streamer, said that ultimately, the phrase was more reflective of fissures in internet culture than real-life divisions.
โ€œI think weโ€™re just having a little bit of fun,โ€ he said.

https://www.wkbn.com/news/national-world/suspect-in-custody-after-fireworks-set-off-outside-federal-plaza-in-nyc-fbi/

Three people were injured in New York City when a suspect allegedly set off fireworks near a federal immigration building in Lower Manhattan on Monday morning, authorities said.

Officials responded to a fire near 26 Federal Plaza between Worth and Lafayette streets at around 8:30 a.m., according to the FDNY. Authorities said the fire appeared to have been started by fireworks, which were loaded into a wagon bearing a sign that read โ€œICE off our streets.โ€

Federal officers were seen apprehending the suspect outside the immigration building, as seen in video from the scene.

โ€œThis morning, an individual deployed an incendiary device outside of 26 Federal Plaza. The individual has been taken into custody, and the FBI New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating the incident,โ€ according to a statement from the FBI.

Two people were taken to the hospital for treatment, and one person suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene, according to the FDNY.

The suspect has not been identified, and the charges are pending. The investigation is ongoing.

โ€œWhat occurred outside 26 Federal Plaza this morning was deeply disturbing. Iโ€™m relieved no one was seriously injured and that a suspect is in custody,โ€ Mayor Zohran Mamdani posted on X. โ€œMy team is in touch with the NYPD and we will support the federal investigation. Our administration will continue to ensure that every New Yorker is safe in their city โ€” and hold accountable any who threaten that.โ€

Don't think she can fix that this late in the game.

>>2872066
Agreed, and I have said this many times. Really the way to tell if someone is poverty draft or not is to look at them on a case by case basis. In American Samoa for instance people join the military because it's the only path out. But it's really not the case in most places on the mainland.

They probably do need someone who is at least policy-wise similar to platner to avoid a backlash. Didn't insinuate anything, just thought since you guys were so obsessed with the Platner guy you might be interested in who replaced him(or will very shortly, he has it in the bag but it's not official)
>I actually expected the dem establishment was NOT serious about winning in Maine and would put a terrible moderate on the ticket so that they could blame the loss of Maine and the Senate all on Platner and insurgent progressives in general to make sure nobody tries to go against the DCCC ever again.
I thought so too, but it looks like the Bernie crowd didn't let the Platner fiasco take all the wind out their sails and that they are too strong in Maine to not secure it for someone on the Bernie side of politics. Apparently according to that article Bernie endorsed both him and Platner in the primary.

FBA looks down on most black americans they claim to represent because they are too welcoming to the "tethers" and should cut ties or any interest in Africa. When future files get released, guaranteed that FBA will be found out to be an FBI psyop

I love this clip. Even though it is very old it is a microcosm of everything wrong with the US military, the US media, US imperialism, etc.

Let me break it down with some analysis:

>0:00 - 0:05

>There was still some looting going on when we arrived

Right away there is this authoritative professional sounding narrator who assures you that "some looting was going on." No evidence, no trial, no jury, no judge, just reassurance from the US media that Iraqis were "looting" their own country As Americans occupy it.

>0:05-0:12

>When we came across soldiers, they didn't seem sure of their role.

This part is meant to disarm you. The narrator is mildly critical of the US military. The soldiers "don't seem sure of their role." This allows the conservative America to block out the entire segment mentally as being unpatriotic and having a liberal bias, to dismiss it entirely. This allows the liberal American to see this entire clip as the extent to which the US military should be criticized. The soldiers are not the looters, the Iraqis are. However the poor bumbling volunteer invaders are "not sure of their role." How unfortunate. Both liberals and conservatives come away from the clip with their cognitive biases reinforced.

>0:12-0:15

>That child don't need to be here! Know what school is? That's where he needs to be, not following you.

The Iraqi is berated by the invader for not sending his child to school even though the Americans have probably already bombed it or made it dangerous to walk to alone.

>0:15-0:25

>We filmed these GIs after they caught a group of Iraqis stealing wood.

Again the viewer is instructed by the media that the Iraqis are guilty. No evidence required. They "stole" the wood on top of their car because the GIs said so.

>0:25-0:32

>We tried to stop them from looting but they don't understand so we take their car and crush it.

The narrator does not stop to question this logic at all. It is simply assumed that the Iraqis are guilty of stealing a few dollars worth of wood and that destroying their vehicle, their means of getting around, is the appropriate response.

>0:32-0:40

The US soldiers mag dump into the car for no apparent reason. They are going to crush the car but it is also necessary to waste bullets on it. This allows them to blow off steam and have fun at the expense of the Iraqi citizens and the US taxpayer.

>0:40-1:09

The car is crushed, and the "stolen wood" that was a pretext for this entire spectacle is not removed from the car, getting crushed along with the car. Supposedly this wood was so valuable that crushing a car was the appropriate response to its alleged theft, yet it is destroyed along with the car. What was the point? Nobody knows, but the narrator is silent.

>1:09-1:13

>That's what you get when you loot!

The soldier confidently reasserts the guilt of the Iraqis, and declares that justice has been served.

>1:16-1:21

>Later, the car's owner tells us, "I am a taxi driver. The car was my livelihood."

Despite not questioning the necessity of anything that happened, the clip reassures you that someone's livelihood was destroyed.

Now how do you think the average liberal and conservative American responded to this clip when it first aired? I'd like to think it went something like this:

Liberal: Oh how dreadful! Bush's war is so bad! Our soldiers are such dumb uneducated hicks! They should have simply arrested those Iraqis for stealing instead of brashly destroying their car! Do they think this is a monster truck derby?

Conservative: They had it coming cus they looted. USA! USA! USA!

>>2872076
Really all you have to do is say you want to do something about health care to get a Bernie endorsement; he really seems like he's a one track focus on that issue. For all the complaining about Platner being a fake person created by "leftist elite consultants" it's pretty clear he had built on the ground energy in the State that could continue beyond one person's candidacy. It's something DSA should be learning, though Platner (and I think Troy Jackson) are unaffiliated of course.

>>2871963
>But ignoring all that I think it's very strange that so many of you respond this way to polling data. This is a democratic primary we're talking about. Not exactly revolutionary politics.
That's the thing, every poll shows that black people have the highest approval of socialism out of any group, most negative view of capitalism out of any group and have the most solidarity with Cuba than any group in the country. Seeing that Mamdani got black support after winning the primary, it is more pragmatism than anything else and one of the last remaining political machines in older black folks. Not to mention felons can't vote in a lot of states which already shrinks the voting pool.

>>2871919
>Idk my theory is that since post-civil rights black people have been granted entry into the bourgeois and the state will even subsidies black entrepreneurs and colleges. You also got a lot of black leaders that were folded into the corporate democrat structure as well.
Or it depends on how much money you have. It's interesting to go down to the municipal level and see how this works. In Dallas there's a longstanding black boomer politician named John Wiley Price who is like the black Trump.

He's an interesting character because he is very Democratic Party establishment, and also really like Trump, he cares about enriching himself (he was also a salesman before entering politics, and apparently a very good one), and will also say lots of stuff about race to deliberately try to provoke. He started getting involved in politics when Black Power in the late 60s, early 70s was in full swing and he incorporated a Pan-African texture into his politics. He will go on a rant in a county commissioner's meeting about why the term "black hole" (the interstellar phenomenon) is racist. But he's always looking to cut a deal and that's part of his strategy to escalate when he's trying to get cut in on something. He will work with white Republican business guys, represent animal fat rendering factories against his own poor constituents, if he can get something out of it.

But if you look at it from his perspective, there has been a "look at this uppity black guy" tone to media coverage of Price and his antics going back to the 1980s. He has a strong sense of defiance about that, and he has continually been reelected because enough of his constituents in South Dallas see him as their guy. What this means is that he cuts black petit-bourgeois business owners in on city contracts. A lot of this cultural pan-African stuff is really a petit-bourgeois phenomenon (Price is also a collector of African art). Like when the Salvation Army takes senior citizens to nutrition programs, they fill up their vans at a gas station which he owns, which was paid for with a loan provided by one of the wealthiest (white) Republican developers in the region. A corporation is opening up an office in the city, he will dig through their advertisements for something that he can twist into appearing racist in some kind of way, and then blow this up into a wrong inflicted on the black community, but that's a way for him to get meeting with the executives and he'll propose that the vending machines in the building be serviced by a company owned by his brother-in-law.

There's a lot of stuff like that. Anyways the vending machine company hires black guys so it is technically steering money into the black community. At any rate I think his view is sort of like hate the game not the player, and the white Republican business owners who really run the city are ruthless. Historically if you read about the history of racism in Dallas, it's so bleak that dystopian sci-fi will cheer you up. When Price's parents were growing up, the KKK was whipping people. Like in the 1920s. Conditions were not good to say the least. Also white neighborhoods would bomb black neighborhoods in the 1940s and 1950s. So Price is, like, there are millions / billions of dollars at stake. Anytime somebody gets a contract to pick up a shovel and dig a hole, the question for him is whether black people are partners on the project. He knows what he's talking about.

He also has an Afropessimist view of the world. He doesn't think things have improved for black people really at all. There's also an argument that Afropessimism also comes out of a petit-bourgeois background, even if it appears radical, it's really not, and it can come from some places that are closer to the core or center of the Democrats. It can justify a notion that Palestinians are also anti-black so who gives a fuck about Palestine.

A funny part of the story is that, also like Trump, the feds have repeatedly gone after him for bribery, all kinds of corruption, but has never landed a conviction.

I sincerely doubt that and I also doubt how radical his base is. They aren't a bunch of Maoists quoting the little red book, they're working class New Yorkers.

Even if he does absolutely nothing while vaguely saying he's "looking into arresting Bibi" that's still gonna put him leagues ahead of the typical democrat who says shit like "well we're getting Israel in a tight bear hug and saying 'its okay to be hurt'" or "Israel is our friend, and sometimes helping a friend means telling them when to stop".

Literally its just free praise for him.

Young antizionist radical leftists were definitely vital to the success of his campaign. But as I said, now that he's in and his name is known among the wider populous, he doesn't need them anymore. He has a new base that will fuel his political career.

>>2872100
they blame the Beirut marine barracks bombing on Iran, which was probably done by the precursors of hezbollah. It's a very tenuous connection but enough for the media to shill. It's funny because the terroristic United States killed the same amount of Iranian CIVILIANS when they shot down that commercial flight like two years later and said, "oopsies we thought it was a F-14, no we'll never apologize btw, XD".

>Abdul El-Sayed: โ€œICE has nothing to do with immigration. ICE is about normalizing paramilitary force on our streets. ICE is about weaponizing the idea of immigration against the Constitution itself. ICE cannot be reformed. ICE cannot be retrained. ICE has to be abolishedโ€

>Handsome

He fucking mogs anybody else the Dems have. But who knows, maybe the country may be ready for a Muslim president by 2032.

>>2872115
They definitely played a huge role doing the groundwork however I think even among "antizionist radical leftists" we need to understand that leftypol is pretty much the maximalist position on here. The "centrist" antizionist will say something like, "Well I believe in a two-state solution" but when asked about whether Israel has a right to exist, the maximalist position is basically: "No."

So while maximalists might see Mamdani being politically unable to arrest Netanyahu as a betrayal or broken promise, I think the fact that he's still insisting he's "looking into it" is going to go over well even with the antizionist portions of his base.

>>2872101
The J street Democrats should be the ones pushed on this. Shouldn't they be overjoyed if Mamdani arrests Bibi? Their whole message is that the problem with Israel is Bibi; he's the whole reason they've gone in a radical direction and it will all be back to normal in a few years under a sensible prime minister. Sending Bibi to the ICC would be perfect, right?

>>2872123

See its important to have a scapegoat (Bibi) and a vague hope that things "get better" when he's "gone" but I think they're just allergic to action. Even if Bibi got arrested you'll get some bullshit like "Look, I dislike Bibi buuuuuuuut arresting a foreign dignitary when he's visiting? This is dictator behavior from Mamdani."

To me they're kind of part of the sheepdogging industrial complex. The dems have learned from the Republicans that you need to run fake "populists" and fake "outsiders" to prevent actual revolutionary politics. So they've taken to backing reformists who look radical but can be controlled.

Yeah that's still leaving a lot unsaid. I guess I'll have to do the deep dive on this myself but I doubt I will be able to find much. Gemini is telling me they neither of them ever made any public statements on Israel.

It did find this one Jew related thing about Morris Katz:
>Katzโ€™s Role and Stance: As a young Jewish political strategist, Morris Katz spearheaded the strategy to head off accusations of radicalism. Katz focused the campaign heavily on economic inequality and working-class issues while proactively brokering conversations between Mamdani and deeply skeptical Orthodox and secular Jewish leaders. Katzโ€™s public strategy was to validate community concerns while defending a platform rooted in human rights and international law.

>Morris Katz, the 27-year-old ad maker and strategist with Fight Agency who was being heralded as a wunderkind for having helped elect Zohran Mamdani mayor of New York City, was holding court with roughly two dozen prominent guests about what he cast as a repeatable solution for Democrats, according to a person who attended the dinner, granted anonymity to describe a private event.

>โ€œWe found a model here to win over working-class voters,โ€ the attendee recalled Katz saying. Find โ€œa guy that looks like heโ€™s a union working-class guyโ€ and put him forward, Katz said, the attendee also recalled.

separate topic but i miss when we were talking about corporate donations in general and not just aipac. because now there are tons of candidates that don't take AIPAC money but do take corporate donations still. fucked up that the bar is so low now that to be considered "good" all you have to do is go to individual lobbyists instead of PACs. The general scrutiny of corporate and bourgeois donations to campaigns has been reduced to just going on TrackAIPAC and looking for whether they show up green or red. There's so much more to it than that. Platner for example didn't take donations from AIPAC but he did have AIPAC family members. What does that tell you?

It is trivially easy to go on trackAIPAC and look at their "endorsements" they are always

  1. democrats
  2. took no AIPAC donations
  3. nevertheless took handsome donations from individual bourgeoisie
  4. also took donations from other corpo PACs

All you have to do is go on FEC.gov and cross reference someone who shows up as "good" on TrackAIPAC with the FEC's donation filings.

The moral of the story here is that 0 donations from AIPAC is good, but it's not good enough. You have to check out their other donations.

>>2872239
https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/matsui-campaign-attacks-vang-over-000000701.html

>Rep. Doris Matsui's campaign, funded for years by corporate donations, is criticizing Sacramento Councilmember Mai Vang for previously taking small amounts of corporate money before pledging to reject such contributions in her congressional race.

>The criticism is the latest in a series of jabs exchanged between the two campaigns as the primary election nears. Vang is attempting to unseat Matsui in California's 7th Congressional District, which includes Sacramento's downtown core. Matsui has held the seat for more than 20 years with little serious opposition.

>In a news release this week, Matsui's campaign highlighted that Vang accepted tens of thousands of dollars in corporate donations during her city council campaigns. Vang has repeatedly vowed not to accept money from corporate political action committees in her congressional bid, framing it as a key distinction between herself and Matsui.

>Most of Vang's past corporate donations came from small Sacramento-area businesses, according to The Ballot Book, a California campaign finance database. Other contributions included $400 from Pacific Gas & Electric and about $8,000 from local casinos.

>"For a candidate purporting to be a 'grassroots' champion, this is hypocrisy at its worst," said Roger Salazar, a campaign strategist for Matsui.

>Vang, who was not made available for an interview, sent a written statement in response to Matsui campaign's criticism. She called the scrutiny an attempt to "change the subject" from news earlier this week that Matsui's website had elevated their "MAGA Republican" opponent โ€” Sac State student Zachariah Wooden.

>Vang also cited Matsui's history of accepting from corporate PACs. Matsui has accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from corporate PACs during the current election cycle, according to the Federal Election Commission website.

>In her statement, Vang said she previously redirected campaign contributions to scholarships for high school students in her district. Vang's campaign did not respond when asked how much of the contributions went to the scholarship fund.

>"I know where my support has gone," Vang said. "Can Congresswoman Matsui say the same? Voters are ready for a new generation of leadership. After 21 years of corporate-funded politics, Sacramento can clearly see what this corrupt system produces."

https://finance.yahoo.com/sectors/energy/articles/trump-could-tap-oil-under-230000926.html

Trump Could Tap Oil under U.S. Military Bases to Top Strategic Reserve

>The Trump Administration is looking for innovative ways to tap more crude from federal lands as the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) is being depleted again by emergency stock releases amid the global supply shock from the Iran war.

>One of these creative new ways to refill the SPR could be the potential tapping of oil from land at U.S. military bases or other sites of the Department of War, a source with knowledge of private information told Bloomberg this week.

>At this year's SPR releases, the U.S. Administration has arranged to replace more than 172 million barrels with about 200 million barrels within the next year, 20% more barrels than will be drawn down.

>Apart from arranging the stocks release as an exchange, in which companies should eventually return the crude with interest, the Trump Administration is considering creative ways of filling the SPR, including potentially with crude drilled from U.S. military sites.

>The advantage for the Administration is that it will own the crude without having to purchase it from private companies.

>"We will see some creative things," the official added, noting that the Trump Administration is looking "to do pragmatic things" with federal energy resources. According to the Energy Secretary, the U.S. needs "creative ways" to refill the reserve.

<Even if the Administration decides to drill for oil at military bases, any production wouldn't impact the SPR and the high energy prices in the short term.

They are against regulations that tell corporations how to internally run a business but are for regulations that keep those business propped up so they never fail. Essentially a republican wants deregulation on what chemicals a food company can add to their food but they want regulations to stop new competitors from coming in and taking market share.

if you know anything about the FBA's they can't even define their own nation and just call others tethers and go through an entire mental gymnastics game to say they are not of African descent. It isn't even grassroots in the black community. Tariq Nasheed crashed out extremely hard because of IShowSpeed going to Africa and Black Americans being excited seeing Africa that he went on a likely sponsored trip to basically go to Africa and shit on it and have the psyop bots attempt to change the actual and normie position which is closer to Speed.

I dunno I've heard enough women oohing and ahhing at whatever buff shirtless guy scenes in movies. I think there is a difference in what people virtue signal about finding attractive and what they actually do. Just as most guys won't be as crass to say they prefer triple D knockers when you ask them what they find attractive.

>On Sept. 30, 2025, a Flock vice president logged into the Dunwoody PDโ€™s Flock system and looked at a camera in the childrenโ€™s gymnastics room of a private community center here in Dunwoody.
>He did not look at any other cameras in the entire 400-camera network that day.
>The community center shared their cameras directly to the PD under the pretense that access was โ€œsolely for real-time critical incident response.โ€
>Flock and Dunwoody elected officials both say this was for a โ€œsales demo.โ€ They claim this was โ€œpart of authorized activity approved under the city's demo partner agreement.โ€
>The problem with that is that the city cannot provide any information that that demo partner agreement exists.
>What kind of sales demo would require looking at one camera in a childrenโ€™s gymnastics room? Can anyone rationally explain why a police agency that is interested in Flock would like to see one third-party camera integration that is in a childrenโ€™s gymnastics room?

I prefer this over the pol compass. At least it has more nuance. I guess I fall into the new republican populists.
Sad it is the smallest group.

I also noticed how traditional political positions in the countries with actual cultures are small or fringe in settler colonial states. For example social conservatism + economic leftism makes sense in Iran, Warsaw Pact, China, but is never seen in the west. Anybody got any ideas why?

>>2872364
>Look at me signal, aren't I just PROUD!?
>I am just like you! A social outcast with fringe beliefs about shit nobody cares and a hundred mental illnesses
The intended audience can't just take off the costume and become a functional person in their society though. Their handicaps and quirks are real and they don't get none of the money the performer does to cushion the impact of branding themselves a weirdo in public. But hey, that's just fuel for the parasocial needs, if they can't find belonging outside of niche online spaces win/win.

IDK what level of shame is appropriate for a society or how to manage it. But I lean towards completely eliminating shame as a barrier to profit being detrimental.

DNC is backing Talarico fully it is just that Jasmine Crockett is being a very bad sore loser and pretty much sabotaging the entire campaign by dogwhistling that Talarico is a sexist and a racist. It is ironically killing Talarico because Texas Dems NEED the black vote to secure the win, so Talarico can't just say fuck Jasmine because it will just have Jasmine say she proved that Talarico is racist and literally have a back and forth over the primary race. Republicans are loving it right now because Crockett pretty much poisoned Talarico's campaign and even if she apologizes it is alrrady ingrained that Talarico is racist. The dems were getting a good win to end up flopping

>>2872477
I think something that's been really pissing me off about all this is that, like, objectively I can look at what my Trans friends are going through, my Hispanic friends, my Muslim friends, and see they've got it 10 times worse; but in the midst of the government trying to deport anyone who attended a Pro-Palestine protest I'm supposed to believe there's just this horrible rise in Antisemitism that's making everything so bad and scary for Jewish people.

Nothing on Jewish people as a whole, but I can look at people facing, like, way worse struggles.

>>2872471
it seems to me that trumpedo, now facing that he can't get Iran, and if Iran is making difficult to the US regime army to open up a third big front, because the US army would spread too thin, and since he can't get Cuba, he want to take the opportunity to take parties, organizations and similar out of the picture with excuse of Cuba.

>>2872471
>Instead of acknowledging the devastating impact of the U.S. blockade, which has contributed to shortages of food, medicine, fuel, and electricity
why would they do that? the entire purpose of blockades and sanctions is to sabotage socialist countries so you can then run a victory lap saying "communism when no food." The cruelty is the point. Slash their tires then smear them as bad drivers.

I was literally just thinking about this. All the hysteria about the "rise of antisemitism" in the most philosemitic country probably to ever exist, like all of a sudden there is going to be a race-war break out, but just against the Jews. Obviously there is so much more anti-Muslim rhetoric at all levels than anything remotely "antisemitic." What is also I think in general, African Americans are by far the single most hated group, but nobody really acknowledges that, probably followed by Hispanics. Even "Nazi" havens like 4/pol/ the amount of posts that are anti-Black are way more numerous than any other. I think there are a lot of people who are more tolerant of anti-Black racism because even if they're not so openly that way, they'll be like "well maybe it's kinda justified…" because of Black association with crime and antisocial behavior. I guess same thing with Islam and perceived anti-feminist, male-chauvinist aspects of the religion.

>>2872514
<why would they acknowledge the blockade's devastating effects
>because trumpedo wants to forever secure florida.
why would acknowledging the devastating impact of the U.S. blockade, which has contributed to shortages of food, medicine, fuel, and electricity, help trumpthuglicans secure florida? if anything the gusano lobby agrees with the general principle of using the blockade to sabotage the cuban economy and then blaming the failures of that economy on socialism. To be honest, I'm going to court controversy here, but I think if we're judging racism on just like purely ambient rhetoric, the stuff I've seen thrown at Muslims might genuinely be the most vile, hateful shit I've ever seen. Like even the /pol/tier racial tirades about Black people is kind of… casual I guess? At least in terms of like, it's vile and reprehensible, but with Muslims its existential.

That's what kind of throws me for a loop, to me it genuinely seems like the loudest voices of Muslim hatred aren't just pushing for the acceptance of their bigotry or racial resentment, but outright extermination. There's contempt and hatred for Black America, a lot of it, but for Muslims in particular it seems to more frequently escalate to the level of: "we need a final solution to the Muslim problem".

I'm going to be totally honest here: I genuinely worry about the prospect of some "Muslim Genocide" in the U.S., I think trans people are at risk too, of course, but I think it seems like there are enough people in high ranking positions in government and media that just want to kill all Muslims.

I don't see how anything you said would be courting controversy.
I mean, TND, total uyghur death, is a popular slogan of there's but I think you have a point is more potential for pogroms with Muslims, Blacks are more considered more of as a problem to be dealt with as it already has been, discrimination and imprisonment. Blacks are like a "problem" for them that's more or less in stasis. But yeah the Christians will really lose there shit if Muslims get more visibility in the US about the Sharia Law and whatever. Greg Abbot just pulled the plug on some Muslims renting out a water park for a private Eid celebration because of the "controversy," when this water park already rents out for private events.
