>>"I have never watched a single Anime nor read a single Manga in my entire life. Where should I start, what are the essentials?"
I'd start with the WW2 tear jerkers. Grave of The Firelies and In This Corner of The World. My 70yo like In this Corner of The World even.

Anyone got any other serious business animu recommendations. Still have to watch Barefoot Gen.

>why are 90% of the characters there white boys
1. They're Asian (Asians also have white skin, races aren't like Power Rangers).
2. There's a lot of shounen here (anime targetted at middle-school boys) so it makes sense that there's a lot of middle-school boys. Sailor Moon is shoujo so it has a young girl as a protagonist. There are exceptions however (both Azumanga and Nichijou have girls as the protagonists).

>>20222
same kind of person who is mindboggled in 2023 that there are racist latinos

>>20270
Same kind of person who posts "white girls fuck dogs" in-between his Japanese zoo hentai sessions.

what the fuck are you talking about you imbecile

>>20277
>what the fuck are you talking about you imbecile
They're obviously a liberal snowflake who thinks we're incels.

Can you guys recommend a character driven show, with fleshed out protagonist and side characters, that have character based conflict ( not like a McGuffin driven, or Mistery driven plot), I'm talking something like chainsaw man, legend of the galactic heroes, oshi no ko or spice and Wolf, where everyone is a fully rounded character, the characters evolve and the conflicts are character based rather than plot based. If it has a dub in German that is even better

What's so virgin about this take? Seems to me that the guy fell in "love" with Makima primarily because "She's being so nice to me" and "I want to touch her tits." He became so utterly obsessed with her that I don't think it's healthy. I'm just tired of anime protagonists swooning over the first conventionally attractive girl they meet. But you can like whatever you want, it's just my opinion, I'm not trying to deny you your enjoyment of the show. If you like simps as protagonists, that's okay, it's just not my cup of tea. I had these kinds of crushes in my younger years, I've long outgrown this period in my life. I'm not sure why you're so angered at me.

>>20371
youre complaining about one of the few times it makes sense for the protagonist to be like that

>>20375
Hm. I guess I can't relate then.

>>20375
NTA but I agree with them, the level of simp is hilarious - literally no different to "le samurai serving his master loyally for saving his life" or some shit.

>>20378
Media shouldnt be consumed only to see yourself in it.

>>20405
It's not about seeing yourself, man, that's cringe. It's about being able to like the character (or the aspect of the author's psyche or friends and co-workers it's meant to represent). We have to spend several seasons with the protagonist, you know, they must be entertaining to watch at least. Otherwise you'll just get sick of them.

>>20495
Weird is good.

>>20495

>>20497

Was good and the 'just friends' had gay sex

>>20509

They kept shitting on each other the entire series lol.

>>20371
it's not healthy you fucking retard that's the whole point

Watch the dub

Just found out about Gunsmith Cats, pretty fun.

>>20981
If you liked Gunsmith Cats you'll like Cats Eye the anime. Its free on youtube and is damn good.

So, any 2023 Recommendations lads?

Rewatched Ninja Scroll the movie and the TV-series recently and I've been craving more ninja manga and anime.
There's a silly Ninja harem manga called Ninkoi and another much older one called Rappi Rangai.
https://somewhereinthemidstofnowhere.wordpress.com/2022/10/20/manga-review-rappi-rangai-ninja-girls-a-fun-action-comedy/

While I'm open to suggestions, I'm honestly looking for something closer to Ninja Scroll or Basilisk, but most online lists I've seen for Ninja anime are pretty meh.
I've heard Ninja Kamui and Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku are good, but most other suggestions are mid-shit, neither silly enough to be rom-coms, nor hardcore enough to be Action. Even something like TMNT would be nice.

>>24055
Forgot to mention that Sword of the Stranger has some similar vibes to Ninja Scroll, though it's technically not about ninja.

Not quite ninja again but close aesthetically to the 2003 Ninja Scroll series or to Ronin Kenshin; Carried by the Wind: Tsukikage Ran
It's a rather comfy action rom-com series. Main character is a tomboy female samurai.

A good clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Em5W_I0B46g

Works mentioned:
Hades Project Zeorymer
Kaze no Matasaburou
Kamui no Ken

Similarly comedic-action is Jubei-chan: The Ninja Girl. It's tropey as hell, but considering its from 1999, it came from a time before such tropes were beaten to death and boredom, or were as widely known.

Recently discovered Ushio and Tora (2015). It's like a 90s anime that somehow time-traveled to the 2010s. The plot feels a bit like a mix of Jujutsu Kaisen and Shaman King.
>Ushio Aotsuki is a stubborn middle school student and son of an eccentric temple priest who goes about life without care for his father's claims regarding otherworldly monsters known as youkai. However, as he is tending to the temple while his father is away on work, his chores lead him to a shocking discovery: in the basement he finds a menacing youkai impaled by the fabled Beast Spear.
> The beast in question is Tora, infamous for his destructive power, who tries to coerce Ushio into releasing him from his five hundred year seal. Ushio puts no trust in his words and refuses to set him free. But when a sudden youkai outbreak puts his friends and home in danger, he is left with no choice but to rely on Tora, his only insurance being the ancient spear if he gets out of hand.
>Ushio and Tora's meeting is only the beginning of the unlikely duo's journey into the depths of the spiritual realm. With the legendary Beast Spear in his hands, Ushio will find out just how real and threatening the world of the supernatural can be.

Another series I recently read is Gingitsune. I thought it was rather wholesome and in a rather under-utilized niche of non-action heavy, nor ecchi-focused modern-mythology story.
