I hold my pencil in a (b) type grip like shown in picrel.
Will the way I hold my pencil negatively affect my attempts at drawing? Should I try learning a different pencil grip, or is the way I currently hold it okay for art?

Aren't you supposed to cycle grip styles?

I just draw it like (g) :^]

b/c/d is the traditional grip, that is associated with less hand strain and remains widespread in calligraphy, but most schools teach a/e/f/g, which children tend to develop into a death grip.

The way I hold a pencil is a mix between b and c. I remember in school one of my teachers tried to force me to hold my pencil like a and g and it felt super uncomfortable

>The way I hold a pencil is a mix between b and c
Same. I just said (b) for simplicity's sake since its the most similar to how I hold it.

>>5822
How is that even possible lol? Whenever I try to draw in a different grip, it feels so uncomfortable and I can barely even make a straight line. I dont know how anybody would be able to get used to multiple different grip styles, let alone cycle between them comfortabley.

>>5826
I don't hold it exactly like that. I attached a pic of my grip for clarity. But anyways, since I'm not doing calligraphy would my style of holding it be bad for art? Should I be trying to learn the typical school-taught grip instead?

Do you like it?
I used to make these alot when I was a full time busker. I'm way out of practice but I'm still happy with it.
A friend has an art space and invited me to come make some paintings for fun. I think this one might sell!

That´s gorgeous. I felt in love.

How do I learn to draw in a cute cartoony artstyle like in picrel?

Im a complete beginner to art, but every art tutorial and guide I see seems to be made for learning to draw in a "realistic" professional style.

Aww, damn it. Anatomy seems really hard, it seems like it would take me years just to get decent at it, and only then will I be able to draw in the style I want. I don't even know where I would begin to learn anatomy.

>>5791
I mean it can be gradiential: the more you know of anatomy, the more you can draw from that experience to fill the gaps like >>5743 said.
I'd say the pixiv sensei couse covers the anatomy you'll want for general purpose stuff pretty quickly:

It's a way you can hone your skill, not a hard prerequisite.

>>5793
Thank you very much. Sorry my last reply sounds pretty whiney, I have a tendency to catastrophize.

>>5794
Ah no worries, I get like that too.

>>5791
I’ve been studying art including anatomy for two years. You don’t need anatomy for that art style.

I can't believe it was lieterally a year ago when I drew this. Thought that I was going to make something out of it.

Call me down, the time is here
Reminding you to slow the wheel
Now, nearing the end of the day
Look, never a moment too soon, or late

Count the hours, the weeks, the days
Forcing nature's slow decay
Here, as we look down on you there
You, falling on into your web of despair

Yeah, that's it.

I don't know anything about drawing/painting aside from a stickman yet this man's artstyle sparked something inside my uncreative brain. The way these sharply-dressed people are drawn alongside this handmade look, due to the visible brush strokes, captivated me.

What would be my path to draw in his artstyle? Which techniques would I use? Where do I even begin and where I go after that?

I only have a dream… and a tablet…

True, I hate how you can't move legs so I had to contort her body to do the IWW pose

The last thread dedicated to posting any drawing you wanted is from 2023, and the images have been purged.

All other threads have their own themes, and it would be a disservice to "pollute" them.

So, post your drawings, there's no fixed theme, no context is necessary, post whatever you feel like, whether you're looking for criticism and tips on how to improve; or just to show off, you do you;

Trying to draw a circle or straight line on a mouse is so hard.

File: 1716766154514.png (402.1 KB, 800x450, ClipboardImage.png)

It's crazy no one has invented a stylus you can hold like this. I guess it doesn't matter since the screen sizes are way too small for proper arm movement. You take any drawing class this is the first shit they beat into you. Move your arm not your fingers.

>>4520
Honestly the friction is what makes it easier for me, but then again I've mostly stuck to editing and clean-up work.

>>4521
>You take any drawing class this is the first shit they beat into you. Move your arm not your fingers.
1) Depends where you are. I know art schools and classes that didn't teach this even in beginner courses
2) It may be because it's not like a piece of paper, since you can zoom in and out with a tablet.

Always wanted to make a parody of those komsomol photos I've seen but with my ethnic aesthetics instead, came out better than I expected even if its half assed lol

This is very very nice anon, super cute
